Personal Faith
I come from a very Catholic family; this has influenced me greatly. I have been involved in a number of retreats and Catholic conferences. In the last few years, these have included:
-Rise Up (Calgary, 2014)
- Rise Up (Ottawa, 2013)
- One Rock (Cochrane, 2013)
- Family Life Conference (Edmonton, 2012; various others)
- World Youth Day (Spain, 2011)
-Cursillo (Grande Prairie, 2011)
Included in my Professional Growth Plan is my Faith Goal for the 2014-2015
Goal # 3 (Faith Goal):
Read "Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic" by Matthew Kelly. I want to authentically live out my Faith every day and pass that example on to my students. Become more involved in my parish "Theology on Tap' young adult group.
Methods/Strategies: Set aside time to read the book; reflect on my relationship with God and how I can best evangelize. Accept a position on the Theology on Tap planning committee; personally invite colleagues to come to Theology on Tap.
Mother Teresa School
- I make a point of being at Morning Prayer in the staff room every morning, regardless of how busy I feel. I am on the schedule to lead prayer as well.
- I attend the District Faith Days.
- My class led the school-wide 4th Week of Advent Religious Celebration, collaboratively with the other Montessori Grade One classes.
Faith in the Classroom
I am very open about God and our Catholic Faith in the classroom and incorporate it across the curriculum. (For example, appreciating God's creation in our Science Unit Needs of Plants and Animals; listening to Cat.Chat music during Art on Fridays.) This openness is mirrored by the students, as they have become very comfortable about mentioning God and various themes we have learned in Religion at any time of the day and during any subject.
Here are a few Religion highlights:

The Jesse Tree
The Jesse Tree is a Catholic Tradition; throughout December we read the sequential stories in the Bible that follow the "line of Jesse" and directly lead up to Jesus' Birth. The students take
turns coloring one ornament that correlates to the Bible story then hang it on our (real) tree. I would definitely do this project again - it proved to be a high-engagement authentic Catholic activity!

St. Joseph's Parish
- I am an active member of St. Joseph's Parish and lead the Liturgy of the Word for Children (Junior) at Mass once a month.
- I teach Reconciliation for Children to Grade Two students who attend public schools (January-March 2015).
- I am involved in the Music Ministry as needed (playing piano for Mass, singing at District Masses, etc).
Community
- I am aware that I may be the only "Bible" people read and I try to lead by being an authentic example of Catholicism in my community. One of my favorite quotes is "Preach the Gospel at
all times, and if necessary, use words" (St. Francis). I am generally very outgoing and cheerful, and I try to maintain an positive outlook on life. Joyfulness is contagious!
- I assisted with the "Think Big 2014" Youth Rally in Fairview, AB. I supervised the girls dorm, and led small groups where needed.
- I assisted with the Grouard-McLennon "Days in the Diocese 2012", supervising the girls dorm and leading small group activities.
